After the Spitalfield markets we went into the city to see a few more of the sights.

I want to be there! Only the name "spitalfield" sounds a bit dubious, but all the rest is as I remember it. Cant stand the tube far too crowded for my liking but i love the red buses. You must make your way to Harrods, dont buy just look, & particularly the food hall its incredible.Hamlleys toy store is out of this world, even if theres no kids in your life. I love the British Museum but set aside at least half a day for that. If you visit St Pauls I think you can walk up to top of dome (we didnt!! even when we were younger). We have down the meal/boat thing down the Thames which is quite good. If your big on books, go to Waterstones, lovely lovely place. Of course Tusauds is a must. If you have a spare day get on a train to Oxford, go to the Ashmolean museum, and something called "The Oxford Story" which is an interactive exhibition on history of the colleges, its down by Waterstones at 6 Broad Street on the same road to Christ Church College, you must must go to Christ church college - hopefully it is near time for term to finish so you can walk through the grounds and halls & see where Lewis Carroll did his writing/study etc. Dont bother with the Alice Tea Shop across the road, its naff (english colloq for "a waste of time"). Enjoy it all, the roast chestnuts will be on sale soon if not now & are sold in the street hot from the oven so grab a bag sit somewhere & watch the world go by.
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention the Dungeon experience, where you pay to walk through a exhibition of scary scary stuff representing days of the plague etc, Rata-nui & daughter begged to go through it, then daughter begged to leave half way through, it was very very spooky & realistic. Im going to show the photos now to rata-nui & encourage him to sell a kidney on the black market so we can pop over & tour all my favourite haunts.
